As part of a three year strategy to focus on emerging markets, SKM has grown its presence in Africa to support its infrastructure, power and mining business in the region and to deliver a range of projects across Guinea, Liberia, Kenya and South Africa.
In other news, SKM has been appointed to deliver site evaluation and qualification of suppliers in China for Codelco, a Chilean State owned company and the largest copper producer in the world; launched a Transport in Cities initiative to mark the 50th anniversary of the landmark Traffic in Towns publication and as the basis to produce a vision or blueprint of what the key issues will be facing cities and city transport worldwide over the next 50 years, and signed a renewed agreement with Rio Tinto for Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services for the delivery of iron ore projects in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
