This year, Sinclair Knight Merz joins with organisations across the globe in celebrating World Environment Day.
Led by the United Nations Environment Programme, and celebrated annually on 5 June, World Environment Day is one of the principal vehicles through which the UN stimulates worldwide awareness and encourages political attention and action on environmental issues.
2012 marks the 40th anniversary of the United Nations Environment Programme and also of World Environment Day (WED), and 20 years since the first UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Earth Summit) in Brazil.
Acknowledging that a Green Economy must be a people focused economy, the WED 2012 theme is “Green Economy: Does it include you?”
We challenged a number of our thought leaders, along with several others, to provide their insights on the question, and recorded it for your interest. Among them is Walter Gerardi – a Melbourne-based principal consultant at SKM MMA with extensive experience in economic and strategic analysis of the energy and resource industries; James Muir, a Clean Energy Adviser from our Auckland office; and Peter Young, Strategy Director of SKM Enviros and Chairman of the Aldersgate Group in the UK. The Aldersgate Group is an alliance of leaders from business, politics and society in the UK that drives action for a sustainable economy.
