Leading projects firm Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) has been awarded the 2012 Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) Employer of Choice for Women citation.
The Employer of Choice for Women (EOCFW) citation is a prestigious acknowledgement by EOWA of organisations that are recognising and advancing women in the workplace.
Organisations are assessed against rigorous criteria which consider a number of workplace issues, including pay equity, women in executive management, flexibility, gender-based harassment and career development training.
Importantly, the citation requires the organisation’s CEO to be the driving force behind the culture which supports the advancement of female employees.
CEO Santo Rizzuto said, “Gender inclusiveness remains an important part of SKM’s diversity agenda and our culture. As Chair of SKM's Global Diversity Committee I am delighted that our ongoing efforts in this area are increasingly being recognised externally around the world.”
In addition to the EOWA citation, SKM was also recently shortlisted for “Asia’s most female-friendly employer” award at the Women in Leadership forum in Malaysia.
Some of SKM’s diversity policies and actions include establishing a funded, employee-led initiative that identifies, recommends and reviews opportunities for diversity within the business, global diversity committees, the SKM Women in Consulting (WiC) network, and mentoring for high-potential individuals.
