SKM Minmetal (together with JRI) completed the Detailed Engineering works of this US$300 million project which consisted of enlarging the mining and smelting capacity of the deposit belonging to Codelco-Chile’s Andina Division, from 32,000 to 65,000 rated TPD.

The enlargement includes the following main installations which work with the existing facilities:

  • Underground Primary Crushing Plant
  • Underground Crushed Ore Transportation System
  • Underground Silo for stockpiling crushed ore
  • Underground Semi-Autonomous Grinding Plant
  • Underground Pebble Crushing Plant
  • Underground Collective Flotation Plant
  • Reconditioning the existing concentrate and tailings thickeners
  • Enlarging the existing Lime Plant
  • New reagent storage, preparation and distribution plant
  • Concentrate transportation system
  • Selective Flotation Plant
  • Handling Copper Concentrate
  • Miscellaneous works in the Surface Plant
  • Water System - Infrastructure facilities
