Feasibility Study, China
Sinclair Knight Merz was commissioned by Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CDIA) in China to undertake feasibility planning for the design of a second runway. This study included planning for an upgrade of the associated existing airside and landside facilities.
The main objective in the feasibility planning of the second runway was to optimise design for air-traffic flow, ground traffic management and affiliated facilities. Outcomes included the siting of a second runway, a new passenger terminal and cargo areas.
In carrying out the Second Runway Feasibility Study, SKM demonstrated its expertise in planning major transport infrastructure facilities and maximising client and community outcomes.
