Three New Distribution Centres, QLD, Australia
Sinclair Knight Merz was engaged to carry out the design and project management of an upgrade of an existing milk processing factory at Booval, near Ipswich in southeast Queensland. The project also included the development of three new distribution centres at North Brisbane, Gold Coast and Toowoomba.
Sinclair Knight Merz provided a full project management service including concept design, detailed design, construction management of building works, and the procurement, delivery, installation and commissioning of process and mechanical equipment.
The majority of the engineering design was carried out in-house and included civil, structural, hydraulic services, mechanical, process, electrical infrastructure, instrumentation and controls, and refrigeration.
The project included major building works at the Booval factory, of which a new coolstore and dry goods store formed the main components. The process/mechanical equipment includes new milk silos, a clean-in-place system, milk intake upgrade, crate conveyors, bottle conveyors etc.
