Sinclair Knight Merz was engaged by Indah Water Konsortium, the private company that operates all sewerage facilities in Malaysia, to write new biosolids guidelines. They form the basis of a national standard to be adopted by the Malaysian Department of Environment for the land application of biosolids.
The environmental management principles adopted were designed around the following proposed end uses:
-
use in non-root crop agriculture and forestry
-
use for top soil production and land restoration
-
reclamation and restoration of mining pools
-
lagooning and trenching on dedicated sites.
Our client’s key operational requirements were incorporated into the guidelines, producing a simple, yet flexible, tool suitable for local conditions.
The environmental controls and operational practices used for these guidelines were based upon research and guidelines used across the globe, particularly in the USA, UK and Australia. The differing approaches available were reviewed in the light of local conditions and adopted accordingly.
The involvement of Sinclair Knight Merz in production of these biosolids guidelines brings the following benefits to your project:
