The Oxide Leach Expansion Project involved the engineering, procurement, construction management, testing and start-up services required for the construction of a new Oxide Leach Pad (Pad II ).

The new pad measures approximately 2460 x 975 metres and accommodates a final volume of 120 million tonnes of agglomerated, crushed copper oxide ore at a stacking rate of approximately 60,000 tonnes per day.

The main installations/activities included:

  • Earthworks and Pad (2460 x 975m)
  • Irrigation and collection systems
  • Power line and electrical control room
  • Material handling system
    – Overland conveyor (1.6km)
    – Shiftable conveyor (2300m) and tripper car
    – Grasshoppers (760m)
    – Crawler-mounted spreader
