SKM in consortium with Aurecon and Mott McDonald have been appointed to undertake engineering design of Melbourne’s new inaugural underground Metro.
The metro system will provide critical new connections between Melbourne’s key growth corridors with the CBD and near-city education and bio-medic services precincts.
The project has two stages, ultimately connected Footscray to Caulfield with new stations and connections including the University of Melbourne and the St Kilda Road commercial district.
SKM’s focus is on surface track works and overhead wiring and communications within the metro tunnel. Initial project phases will concentrate on preparing a business case to enable funding for the infrastructure works required.
