The design philosophy requested by the client revolved around two key principles:

  • To provide a residential development which will differentiate itself from competing development in Manchester and elsewhere on the basis of quality   
  • To design attractive and well planned apartment layouts that offer the best use of internal space and best views to the main rooms

The residential accommodation will be provided in three buildings, each of a similar design and each with 17 levels of accommodation. Provision has been made for 253 car parking spaces sunken into the ground, concierge controlled entrance points and high quality landscaping. Each block will contain a mixture of apartment types.

The inner communal spaces are penetrated by a trio of four storey atria. Access is also afforded from each of the two penthouses to individual roof gardens. Layered facades consisting of a selective palette of materials. 

Stability is achieved using reinforced concrete shear walls to stairs and lift cores. A slip form type of construction incorporating bend out bars is envisaged. The steelwork to the South elevation and provides stability and support to external balconies. The slab thickness on the first few levels may be stepped to accommodate tanking requirements. Stair flights will be precast concrete and half landings bearing onto insitu concrete walls.
