Newport Waterways is a canal based residential land development on Deception Bay to the north of Brisbane. Sinclair Knight Merz provided civil engineering services for the design and construction of the project for Timcroft Pty Ltd. The development was structured on a team approach with Silva Earthmoving Contractors carrying out the construction works.
The project involved the use of difficult clay soils, critical earthwork balances and a desire for a high quality final presentation in minimum time frames. Sinclair Knight Merz was able to bring to the project its considerable experience in the urban development sphere, including previous canal developments. Also, by staffing the project with a project manager, designers and superintendents who were sensitive to the developer's requirements and constraints, a quality service was provided which developed the site to its maximum potential.
