Railtrack commissioned SKM to undertake the largest market study of its kind in Europe. We undertook research among 1,600 logistics operators and users across Europe to assess the prospects for rail Intermodal in the cross channel market. This provided a basis for a twenty five year forecast of Intermodal and other rail traffic with and without loading gauge enhancement on the main British rail freight spine route, the West Coast Main Line between Mossend and the Channel Tunnel.
