SKM undertook the design of the site infrastructure for the new stadium development for the MK Dons Football Club (formerly Wimbledon FC).
The commission included enabling works for other developments within the overall site including major food and non food retail units, hotel and leisure developments and a multi-use indoor arena.
In addition to the design of roads, drainage and public realm works SKM produced a site wide utility services and drainage strategy which facilitated the individual procurement requirements of each development.
Challenging aspects of the commission included the surface water drainage which was constrained by the Environment Agency to greenfield run-off, and bulk earthworks using clays with a high shrinkage potential.
A sustainable approach was taken to the surface water drainage with storage of flood waters in open swales where possible.
