SKM was commissioned to provide transport planning, traffic engineering advice and site infrastructure design services for a major mixed-use waterside development in a sensitive location within the historic City of Chester.
The redeveloped site will incorporate a high standard of design for pedestrians and cyclists and include the reinstatement of the canal towpath into the city centre. The complex nature of the transportation issues were increased by the presence of listed buildings within a development restriction zone. 3
Sinclair Knight Merz undertook a full Transport Assessment of the proposals and the design of the internal highway network and site access junctions. Planning permission was granted in September 2003.
