Waterloo International Terminal Roof, London

 Waterloo International Terminal Roof

The Waterloo International Terminal is constructed alongside the existing Waterloo Station for use by Eurostar trains.  SKM Anthony Hunts designed the roof structure and also other ancillary 'Architectural' structures around the terminal. The form of the roof structure consists of thirty-seven prismatic, three-pinned bow string arches of varying spans covering the entire length of the trains (approximately 400m).

The design encompasses both architectural and engineering input following in the tradition of past railway train sheds and won a number of Awards including the Institution of Structural Engineers Special Award in 1994, Structural Steel Design Awards in 1994 and the Civic Trust Award in 1996.
