Public Transport Mapping for the Royal Easter Show

Project Highlight - Public Transport Mapping for t

Sinclair Knight Merz designed and produced a number of transport maps for the Royal Easter Show at Homebush in Sydney’s west.

The client was responsible for the transportation of spectators, tourists and the general public during both the Royal Easter Show and the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. With a ban on private transport to the site during these events, the transport planning involved precise coordination of a wide range of government and private sector transport organisations.

In 1999, public transport to the Royal Easter Show was used as part of the testing process of moving large volumes of people to and from the site. To assist in making people aware of the availability of transport, Sinclair Knight Merz produced a number of transport guides and bus timetables. These included route maps in full colour.

Working closely with the client, the maps were specifically designed to appear in Sydney and local newspapers, brochures, leaflets and web sites. The maps were also designed to be enlarged to poster size.

By outsourcing its mapping requirements, the client's delivery time and presentation quality were satisfied. Sinclair Knight Merz provided a cost effective solution by producing maps that could be used in a variety of media, without redrawing.
