Sinclair Knight Merz has carried out the interface design for the replacement of the original manufacturer’s turbine supervisory equipment on a number of steam turbines around Australia.

These have included the 4 x 350 MW main turbines and 4 x 12 MW boiler fired pump turbines at Munmorah Power Station in New South Wales, 2 x 200 MW main turbines at Torrens Island in South Australia and 3 x 35 MW back pressure turbines at Nabalco Power Station in the Northern Territory.

Sinclair Knight Merz also carried out the interface design for the replacement of the mechanical hydraulic governors on the 3 x 35 MW sets at Nabalco Power Station with electro-hydraulic governors.

The involvement of Sinclair Knight Merz in these projects demonstrates its skills in the following areas:

  • expertise in the design of turbine supervisory equipment
  • experience in the design of electro-hydraulic governors.
