Master Plan Revision & Justification Topic Study
Sinclair Knight Merz is assisting the Shenzen Airport 2nd Runway Preparation Office with an overall review and justification of the Shenzhen Baoan International Airport (SBIA) Master Plan.
The objective of this review is to ensure that the need for a second runway and associated facilities are developed in time to cope with the increase in air traffic. The review and justification of the master plan was divided into six special tasks and two supplementary tasks as follows:
- Target Market and Functional Status of SBIA within the A5-Group Airport System and the Asia-Pacific Region
- Airspace Analysis
- Influence of Economic Demand and Justification
- Conditions for Construction of Cargo Hub Airport
- Overall Distribution and Staged Implementation Plan for Passenger Terminal Zone, and
- Functional Facilities Planning due to Second Runway Construction
In addition to the above, two supplementary tasks were undertaken as follows:
- Project Feasibility of Construction of second runway; and
- In the premise that the construction of the second runway is feasible, to determine the overall layout and construction scale for the airport.
