Community consultation and social impact assessment

 VicRoads

Client: VicRoads

SKM has undertaken Social Impact Assessment studies and community consultation programs for VicRoads on a range of highway and transport planning studies.  These have included:

  • Scoresby Transport Corridor Study Environmental Effects Statement.  This project included consultation with a diverse range of individuals and groups over a forty kilometre transport corridor in Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs
  • Calder Highway:  Kyneton Faraday and Faraday to Ravenswood Social Impact Studies and the Black Forest Section Social Impact Study
  • Goulburn Valley Highway – Strathmerton and Nagambie Planning Studies.  For both projects an initial assessment of social issues was undertaken to assist development and refinement of route options and then detailed consultation and analysis was undertaken to assess the routes.
  • Review for DDA Responsiveness – VicRoads’ Draft ‘Accessible Transport Infrastructure and Services Provided by VicRoads Strategy’, including disability service provider workshops and focus groups to review bus stop designs with people with physical disabilities.
  • Preparation of guidelines for implementation of the WalkSafe Pedestrian Safety Program
  • Strategies and guidelines for Community Consultation - preparation of a manual to guide VicRoads in its dealings with the community across all its business areas
  • Bass Highway Upgrade Stages 4 and 5 landholder consultation.

Consultation programs have ranged from local area consultation to major communication and consultation programs.
