As part of the MAST NHS Lift framework agreement with Laing O’Rourke, SKM anthony hunts were appointed to carry out the civil and structural engineering services for this project to develop new and improved local primary health care facilities. The projects comprise two storey buildings, which will consist of a steel frame. Laing O’Rourke have been quite deliberate in their choice of designs for this project in order to remain sympathetic to the surroundings so that they are interesting and inviting to the public in the heart of these communities.
Swinton
This project comprises the complete demolition of an existing public building in the heart of Swinton town centre to provide state of the art doctor’s surgery facilities. In addition a new public library space will be provided.
Eccles
This project comprises the partial demolition of parts of an existing listed public library. The new health centre will be constructed immediately adjacent to the library.
Brunswick
This project will provide a new drug rehabilitation centre as well as health centre facilities to a particularly run-down part of Manchester, and will be constructed on a derelict site.
