Achieving the stunning Architecture of this world class convention centre designed by Hijjas Kasturi Associates and destined to be the venue for national and international government functions in Putrajaya, required innovative engineering solutions. HSL A&R & H S Liao, drawing on experience within the Sinclair Knight Merz Group, delivered solutions which are both innovative and efficient particularly for the long span geometrically complex roof structure over the plenary hall and the column-free banquet hall. This latter space can accommodate all 2000+delegates at a silver service dinner, each with a completely uninterrupted view of the stage with the conference and main auditorium floors above supported on a sculptural system of radial arms.
Surrounding these main spaces the ancillary accommodation follows a conical geometry with the rings increasing in diameter up the building to provide the larger area needed for the plenary hall itself. By designing the structure to these spaces as a complete three dimensional system our structural team ensured each element worked to its full potential for our Client’s investment and each square metre to its full potential for the Architect’s planning.
The method of procurement chosen by the client is design and build with SKM, through its KL team A&R HS Liao, acting for the client to completion of the project.
