The West 9 Crusher Relocation Project forms part of an investment program for sustaining capital projects for Minera Escondida. The mine, which is operated by BHB Billiton, is located in the north of Chile in the pre- Andean Mountains of the Atacama Desert.
The project involves the management engineering, procurement, construction, testing and start-up services required for the relocation of Minera Escondida’s existing two in-pit crushing stations plus the extension of the associated parallel twin line conveyor systems. The relocation is required as part of a mine expansion project to maintain current mine output beyond the year 2007.

- Extension of existing conveyor lines (2010 metres)
- New transfer stations (2 off)
- New parallel conveyor lines and tunnels
- Controlled demolition of existing crusher infrastructure.
Other infrastructure:
- Light vehicle road
- Drainage systems
