Analysis of Water Management Options
Abstract
This paper describes analysis undertaken to investigate current and potential water management practices in the alluvial plains of the Upper Condamine. Modelling of water use practices was undertaken at three scales: regional, sub-catchment and farm cluster. Options for improved water use practice were investigated, and the impacts, interactions and limitations of ring tank development were examined. Preliminary work on development of decision support tools was undertaken to support evolving management policy, effective water resource sharing at sub-catchment scale and the siting and conceptual design of ring tanks. The study was supported by the Natural Resources Management Strategy administered by the Murray Darling Basin Commission (MDBC), a regional development group Darling Downs Vision 2000, and the Queensland Department of Natural Resources (QDNR).
