Digital Imagery: High Resolution Imagery
Abstract
Globally the production of medium and small-scale maps either has not yet been produced, or is outdated and inaccurate. The ability to extract a wide variety of information, locate features and the creation of mapping products is on the verge of an unprecedented evolution paralleled with the global growth of the spatial market, technological changes and the availability of accurate and quality data sets. This paper analyses the use, application and benefit of high-resolution satellite imagery in the changing world of mapping and discusses the future direction of the mapping sciences using satellite imagery.
