Holistic approach to Water Management
Abstract
Drought management has emerged as an important field in Australia to manage scarce commodity "water". Victorian state government in Australia has put in place a range of legislation, policies and programmes to ensure sustainable use of its water resources. Different aspects of Australian practices for the management of water resources such as Drought Response Plans (DRPs), system modelling, system security and system augmentation analysis etc. are described. Optimisation of bulk water transfer and allocation within a supply system is an important aspect of management of the system. It is envisaged that different practices and approaches used in Australia such as concept of restriction policies, system security and system augmentation analysis etc. can be applicable for Nepalese context.
