Recycling of Highly Treated Effluent

Abstract

This paper presents a summary of the key issues that need to be addressed when investigating a project to use recycled water as a substitute for the release of dam water to maintain river health. The Replacement Flows Project (RFP) in western Sydney, which aims to replace the current releases from Warragamba Dam to the Hawkesbury-Nepean River with highly treated recycled water, is used as an example.
