Prioritisation of needs for Technical Assistance to Developing countries in Wastewater Management / Treatment
Abstract
This paper describes the overall problem of urban wastewater management/treatment in urban areas in developing countries(DCs). The focus is on planning and implementing management systems in progressive steps to match the needs of a growing urban community, with emphasis on
- the objectives to be achieved with each step,
- (ii) priritisation of these steps and needs, and in the overall picture to indicate the appropriate roles of nutrient removal and reuse, and
- (iii) guidelines for the furnishing of technical assistance to the DCs form the international assistance agencies (IAAs) which will match the actual DC needs, rather than be emulations of the wastewater management/treatment practices of the affluent industrialised countries (ICs).
