The Delivery & Operation Of Acacia Prison
Abstract
There is heavy reliance on the private sector as providers of infrastructure traditionally provided by the government. Whilst this trend first started with economic infrastructure such as roads, bridges etc., over the past decade or so there has been an increasing use of the private sector in providing social public infrastructure such as hospitals, prisons and even schools. This paper discusses Acacia Prison, the new 750 bed medium security prison for males in Western Australia. It focuses on the procurement process of the prison and its operation by a public sector – private sector partnership (PPP).
