When the flow is too great
Abstract
An environmental flow assessment of Mullaroo Creek, a River Murray anabranch
This study investigated the instream ecology and channel structure under the current regulated flow regime of Mullaroo Creek, an anabranch of the Murray River in northwest Victoria. The aim of the study was to determine the extent to which flows could be manipulated to realise water savings in the creek without adverse environmental impact. To this end we compared the ecology and geomorphology of Mullaroo Creek with nearby similar but unregulated Murray River anabranches.
