Colin Buchanan has been appointed by the CAMIS (Channel Arc Manche Integrated Strategy) project partners to work on projecting future flows of passengers and goods passing through all the major ports on both sides of the English Channel (from Medway to Falmouth on the UK side and Dunkerque to Brest on the French side).
Having forecast future flows we will identify where additional or improved transport infrastructure (such as road and rail access) is needed to serve each port so they can handle their projected growth up until to 2030.
The output from the study will be an integrated investment strategy to address infrastructural barriers that reduce accessibility and prevent access to markets on both sides of the Channel..
The ultimate objective of the CAMIS project partners is to influence the European Commission to widen cross-border maritime co-operation in the Channel area and influence national governments in planning and investment matters.
