Safety Overview
Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) has a growing international reputation for implementing innovative health and safety management strategies. We are able to develop and implement health and safety systems and manage diverse workforces, including third party contractors.
A number of our projects have set new standards for excellence in safety performance including the award winning Dampier Port Upgrade project:
- Five million manhours worked without a Lost Time Injury and last three years of project LTI free
- 60 million manhours worked with an LTIFR of 0.15 and a MTIFR of 0.79 - well ahead of industry norms
SKM “walks the talk” on safety and zero harm, by implementing a safety practices programme called “LiveIt”, designed to achieve a quantum shift in the safety thinking of SKM people, in order to create a real and recognisable safety culture
We have also established a Major Project Executive Safety Steering Committee, chaired by our Mining and Metals General Manager to set the company’s strategic direction in safety on major projects and review performance.
SKM is also a registered training organisation, using Visualised Learning Methodology (VLM). SKM designs and delivers a range of innovative safety learning and development programs, services and nationally accredited training from its dedicated SKM Learning Centre located in Perth, Western Australia - click here to find out more.
